During one of his recent interviews on ‘The Megyn Kelly Show’, the actor commented about his ex-wife and her current partner. Brand joked about Perry and Trudeau’s romance and commented, “I’ve put up with a lot with that ex-wife of mine, but you took it too far, KP.” Brand continued his jab, saying, “Orlando Bloom, I love that guy. Brilliant. Justin Trudeau, though, potentially Fidel Castro’s spawn. No, there we draw the line.”

In 2025, the actor attended a Turning Point USA event, where he passed similar jokes about the ‘Dark Horse’ singer and her romance with the former president of Canada. At the time, while on stage, he commented, “Look, Katy Perry, I was married to her. I love her still, and I’m glad that her mom’s in the room to hear me say this, but look. I was okay with Orlando Bloom, but Justin Trudeau? Come on, man. Don’t put me in a category with that guy! That globalist stooge.”Brand has also continued to comment about his failed relationship with the singer. Perry and Brand’s relationship lasted for around two years. The two met in September 2009, while she was filming a short cameo for his film, ‘Get Him to the Greek’. After dating for four months, they got engaged. Almost a year later, they travelled to Rajasthan, India, for their wedding ceremony on October 23, 2010. After being married for a year, Brand revealed in December 2011 that the two had called it quits. While talking to Howard Stern on his show at the time, the actor shared that while he loved Perry, he felt their relationship was not working for either of them. The two finalised their divorce in July 2012.
