Musician Raghu Dixit recently talked about his married life with Grammy-nominated singer and flautist Varijashree Venugopal. Although he shared that his life has been simple and full of marriage since they got hitched, the two have also been part of online discussions due to their age-gap.
Raghu Dixit opens up about the age gap discussion
Raghu was 50 years old and Varijashree was 34 when they got married. Their 16-year age gap became a talking point for many people online. In a conversation with Hindustan Times, Raghu admitted that some comments did hurt them. He said, “To be honest, we knew people would always have opinions, especially when you’re in the public eye. And to be honest again, it did hurt.” He then added, “But then you know there’s a little trick to a good, happy life – don’t take the internet too seriously.” He said the love and support from family, friends and real fans mattered much more than online opinions.Raghu said marrying Varijashree felt completely natural because they had known each other for a long time before taking the next step. He said, “You know, love is a peculiar thing. It sees beauty unseeable…it just happened. We were friends for a long, long time before we chose to get married. And when we did, it just felt so natural. If your decisions are based on love, mutual respect and trust, then outside noise becomes frankly quite irrelevant.”

During the same conversation, Raghu Dixit also shared that they enjoy spending time together, making music, travelling and giving each other the freedom to be themselves.He said their relationship is built on love, trust and respect. Even though both of them are deeply connected to music, he said their marriage is about much more than their careers.He said she is not only a talented musician but also a wonderful person. He said, “We laugh a lot, we make music, we travel, and we give each other space to be ourselves. That’s something I value enormously.”
