Bengaluru road rage: Luxury car passenger caught on camera slapping biker in Indiranagar; viral video sparks outrage

What started as a routine traffic stop at a red light in Bengaluru quickly turned ugly.A video that’s now doing the rounds on social media appears to show a man stepping out of a luxury car and physically confronting a biker in the middle of the road. The clip, reportedly filmed in Indiranagar, has left many people angry, with several calling for action against the man seen in the video. The footage was shared by Instagram user Lakshman Naik, who said the incident took place on July 2 at the 12th Main Road traffic signal in Indiranagar.According to Naik, the trouble began while vehicles were waiting at a red light. He claimed the biker was trying to squeeze through a narrow gap between two cars. After honking and asking the driver to move slightly, an argument allegedly broke out between the rider and a passenger sitting inside the luxury car. What happened next was caught on camera. The passenger is seen getting out of the luxury car, walking up to the biker and slapping him. Moments later, he appears to shove the rider hard enough to knock him off his bike. Even as the traffic signal turns green and vehicles begin moving again, the confrontation continues, with the man allegedly hurling abuses at the biker. The video has since spread widely online, prompting a flood of reactions.Sharing the clip, Naik said road rage in Bengaluru is becoming increasingly worrying and stressed that disagreements on the road should never turn violent. “No one has the right to physically assault, threaten or harass another person on the road,” he wrote, adding that arguments cannot justify violence, regardless of who is involved. In a follow-up comment, Naik said other commuters eventually stepped in after realising what was happening. He claimed the person driving the luxury car intervened to stop the fight and reportedly offered to pay for the minor damage caused to the other car. According to him, several bystanders also gathered around the biker, spoke against the assault and helped calm the situation. The incident has triggered strong reactions online. Many users tagged the Bengaluru Police, urging the authorities to investigate the matter. One person joked, “Imagine explaining this to the insurance company.”Another asked, “How can someone think it’s okay to hit another person in public?”Others called for people to keep their tempers in check, pointing out that traffic disagreements are common but should never end in violence.Naik later explained that his reason for posting the video had nothing to do with gaining followers or views. He said too many incidents of road rage go unreported because there is no evidence, leaving victims with little chance of being heard. This time, he said, the presence of a video changed everything. He also reflected on something else that stood out.At first, people nearby simply watched. But once they understood what had happened, many of them came forward to support the biker. For Naik, that was the biggest takeaway. He said ordinary people standing up against wrongdoing can make a real difference and reminded viewers that no one is above the law, whether they are wealthy, influential or driving an expensive car.
