VIJAYAWADA: A road accident in the United States has claimed the life of another Telugu student from Andhra Pradesh, leaving her family and villagers in deep shock. Atluri Prasanna, a native of Moolapadu village in Ibrahimpatnam mandal of NTR district, died in a road accident in New York on July 5.According to information received by her family, Prasanna went to a nearby temple with her friends over the weekend. While their car was waiting at a traffic signal, it was reportedly hit by another speeding vehicle.The impact was so severe that Prasanna and another young woman died on the spot, while two others sustained serious injuries and were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.Prasanna hailed from a humble farming family. Her father, Atluri Vasantha Rao, is a farmer, while her mother runs a small bag manufacturing unit in Malleswari village.Determined to provide their daughter with a bright future, the family saved money to send her to the United States for higher education.After completing her chartered accountancy studies in India, Prasanna moved to New York and graduated from Pace University. She recently completed her course and was searching for a job when the fatal accident occurred.Her sudden death has plunged her family, relatives and the residents of Moolapadu village into grief. Her younger brother, Dhanunjay, is currently employed in Hyderabad.The bereaved family has appealed to Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu and minister Nara Lokesh to assist in bringing Prasanna’s mortal remains back to her native village for the final rites.The incident has once again highlighted the growing number of tragic accidents involving Telugu students pursuing higher education abroad, with Prasanna’s untimely death cutting short the dreams of a promising young student.
