'Edited version, if you have the courage, release entire video': CJP's Abhijeet Dipke
“If you have the courage, show the entire video so that people can understand how you denied me my basic rights,” Dipke added.

CHHATRAPATI SAMBHAJINAGAR: Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke has accused Delhi Police of denying him basic rights during his detention and demanded the release of the full video showing him repeatedly asking to be allowed to speak to his cousin and lawyer.According to news agency PTI, Dipke alleged that police had released an edited version of the video and challenged them to make the entire footage public so people could understand his account of the incident.“Delhi Police, if you have the courage, release the entire video in which I repeatedly asked them to let me speak to my cousin, give me my phone for two minutes and allow me to speak to my lawyer. Why are you not releasing that video? You are showing an edited version,” he said.“If you have the courage, show the entire video so that people can understand how you denied me my basic rights,” Dipke added. He claimed that police did not allow him to contact his lawyer after his arrest or detention, describing it as a violation of his legal rights. He also alleged that neither he nor his parents and lawyers were informed about where he was being held or which police station he had been taken to.“Allowing a person to call their lawyer after arrest or detention is a legal right. Delhi Police did not even allow me that, and now they are taking the moral high ground,” Dipke told news agency PTI.Dipke further alleged that police did not inform his family or lawyers about his whereabouts throughout the day.“They did not tell me, my parents or my lawyers where I was being held, which police station I was in or where in the country I had been taken. They did not inform anyone throughout the day,” he said.Dipke also accused Delhi Police of causing distress to his family by asking him to call his parents at 3.30am. He said his family had already been grieving the death of his grandmother.“At 3.30 am, they deliberately wanted me to call my parents and cause them further distress when they had already lost my grandmother. Was I supposed to give them another shock by telling them that their son was going to be jailed for a long time?” he asked.Alleging that the police action had caused mental distress to both him and his family, Dipke questioned why officers had repeatedly asked him to speak to his parents without informing them about his whereabouts.“Delhi Police was mentally torturing not just me but my family as well. Did the Delhi Police tell my family where I was being held? They kept telling me to speak to my parents, but did they tell my parents which jail or police station I was in? If they did not, why not? Why did they not tell them? Did they have no humanity?” he said.Meanwhile, CJP leaders Saurav Das, Ashutosh Ranka and Ratna Singh are set to visit Parliament Street Police Station on Monday to seek permission for another peaceful protest at Jantar Mantar. The leaders will demand that Delhi Police allot a date and venue for the proposed demonstration within 24 hours, Ranka said.He warned that the party would announce another protest if the police failed to provide a date for the demonstration within the stipulated period.(With agency inputs)
