THANE: Two people, including an autorickshaw driver and a passenger, were killed while another passenger was seriously injured after a gas tanker overturned onto their autorickshaw on the Thane-bound carriageway of the Ghodbunder Highway on Wednesday afternoon.The accident took place around 1 pm near D-Mart at Kavesar in Anand Nagar. Police said the autorickshaw was carrying the driver and two passengers when the tanker lost balance and toppled onto the vehicle.The deceased were identified as Dashrath Pawar, the autorickshaw driver from Kalwa, and passenger Mohammad Amin, a native of Uttar Pradesh.The injured passenger, Amjit Ansari, was rushed to a private hospital in Owala, where he is undergoing treatment.The accident disrupted traffic on the busy Ghodbunder Highway for some time. Police and traffic officials, assisted by a crane, removed the overturned tanker and cleared the carriageway, restoring traffic.Police have launched an investigation to ascertain the cause of the accident.
