Praise from the actor who first brought a beloved character to life carries special meaning. Mohanlal, who plays Georgekutty in the original Malayalam ‘Drishyam’ films, has watched the Hindi film ‘Drishyam: The Conclusion’ and shared his appreciation for how the story has been wrapped up. The Ajay Devgn starrer takes a different path from the Malayalam version, which makes the veteran actor’s response a big moment for the team.

What Mohanlal said about the film

Sharing a video, Mohanlal said, “I watched Drishyam: The Conclusion, and I am truly impressed with the way they have brought a much-loved journey to a befitting end. Congratulations to Abhishek Pathak, Kumar Mangat Pathak, Ajay Devgn and the entire cast and crew on a job so well done.”The Malayalam films have a loyal fan base, and Georgekutty remains one of the most memorable characters in Indian cinema. The Hindi franchise has chosen to move ahead in its own way instead of following the third Malayalam film. Several viewers have even said that the Hindi conclusion is better than the Malayalam one, which released earlier this year.

A new story for the Hindi franchise

The Hindi ‘Drishyam’ series began in 2015 as a remake of Jeethu Joseph’s Malayalam thriller. The first two films stayed close to the original, but ‘Drishyam: The Conclusion’ follows an original storyline made for the Hindi version.Speaking at FICCI Frames, Ajay Devgn said, “The original one they did not have Akshay Khanna’s character as such, but 3 is a completely new script. They are two very different films. The way Abhishek and the writers have worked so hard on the script for the past maybe two years that it really, really gives you a high. The way it has shaped up the scripting and the way Abhishek has made the film, I think it has come out fabulous. That’s when we decided that it should be the conclusion.”

Strong run at the box office

The film has done well in theatres too. ‘Drishyam: The Conclusion’ has reportedly earned over Rs 479.80 crore worldwide, while its India gross has crossed Rs 370.80 crore.
