Indian long-distance runner Gulveer Singh won the men’s 10,000m silver medal at the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya on Friday, improving on the bronze he won in the same event at the 2023 Hangzhou Games.Gulveer clocked 28:29.38 to complete the run, 1.87 seconds behind the gold medalist Birhanu Balew of Bahrain.Gulveer, who had won bronze at the previous edition of the Asian Games in Hangzhou, finished second behind Bahrain’s Birhanu Balew, who claimed the gold in 28:27.51 minutes.Gulveer’s silver came a day after Seema Kumari won bronze in the women’s 10,000m, ending India’s 16-year wait for a medal in the event.Seema clocked 32:50.05 to finish third in the women’s 10,000m race on Thursday.India also won silver in the mixed 4x400m relay on Thursday. Vishal TK, Poovamma, Manu and Vithya Ramaraj finished in 3:14.46 to take second place.Bahrain won the mixed relay gold in a Games-record 3:12.87, while Vietnam took bronze in 3:14.54.The silver adds another major medal to Gulveer’s collection this year after he had also finished second at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
