ROORKEE: A 14-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped by four youth in Laksar area of Uttarakhand’s Haridwar district, police said. Three suspects, aged between 19 and 21, were apprehended within hours of the crime, while a fourth accused, a 17-year-old boy, remains absconding.The assault occurred during the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday. According to police, the survivor had accompanied her mother to a jagran at a relative’s house, where she met the four accused. Around 2 am on Thursday, the youths reportedly lured her to an isolated location and gang-raped her.After the assault, the girl briefly lost consciousness. Upon regaining her senses, she recounted the ordeal to her mother, who filed a police complaint on Thursday morning.An FIR was promptly registered against the four accused under BNS sections 137(2) (kidnapping), 61(2) (criminal conspiracy), and 70(2) (gang rape of a female under 18), alongside relevant provisions of the Pocso Act.“Police teams led by senior sub-inspector Nitin Chauhan were deployed to track down the perpetrators. Three adult accused were arrested within a few hours,” said SP (Rural) Shekhar Chandra Suyal.Police are continuing search operations to locate and apprehend the absconding juvenile suspect.
