GURGAON: A student of Class 11 jumped to her death from the third floor of a private school on Ghazipur Road, Dabua Colony, in Faridabad on Tuesday.Police said the incident occurred around 1pm. The school staff took the student to a nearby hospital where the doctors declared her dead.Her father has alleged that the teacher had punished her. He said his daughter felt humiliated and took the extreme step. “There was no issue at all; in every way she was doing well, even in studies she was fine. I asked the children and they said that the teacher had made her stand for four hours outside the classroom,” he said.He claimed that some students were fighting over lunch and his daughter had no role in it; however, the teacher punished her.

The parents of the deceased student also claimed that she was scolded by her teacher as “she had gone out to eat biryani without informing anyone”, according to the police.The principal has denied the father’s claims. He told TOI, “It is not possible that she had been punished for four hours. She had sought permission to go to the washroom after which she jumped.”SHO Dabua Sumer Singh said, “The family has not yet filed a complaint. Action will be initiated as soon as a complaint is received.”
