UDAIPUR: The Oberoi Udaivilas Hotel in Udaipur has filed a police complaint alleging that a Delhi family left the property without paying a bill of Rs 5.74 lakh after a 10-day stay, claiming that a travel agency would settle the dues.The Delhi resident was identified as Anurag Yadav, who travelled to Udaipur with his wife and two children. The family stayed at The Oberoi Udaivilas from August 14 to August 23 and reportedly availed themselves of the hotel’s luxury facilities and services before leaving without settling the bill. The family allegedly claimed that a travel agency would make the payment on their behalf.On August 24, at the time of checkout, the hotel management presented the family with a bill of Rs 5.74 lakh. However, Yadav allegedly refused to pay the amount, stating that the travel agency would settle the bill.According to the hotel management, Maker Baha Travel Agency booked a room for Yadav via email on August 12. The hotel reportedly stated that there was no special arrangement, discount or agreement with the travel agency regarding payment of the bill at the time of booking.An FIR was lodged at Ambamata police station in Udaipur by the hotel’s liaison manager, Ravindra Singh. Police are investigating the family and the alleged role of the travel agency in the matter.According to Ajay Raj Singh Shekhawat, SI at Ambamata police station, an FIR has been lodged by the hotel management. “A detailed investigation is being carried out,” he said.
