BHOPAL: A highly qualified Assistant Professor was arrested after allegedly attempting to throw petrol-filled beer bottles near the main gate of the Indian Air Force Station in Gwalior’s Maharajpura area.This incident led to a high-security alert and a joint investigation by the Indian Air Force, Madhya Pradesh Police and intelligence agencies.Police said the accused, who was last said to be employed at a private engineering college, claimed during questioning that the Indian Air Force had “hacked” his brain and was controlling his actions. He was produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) and later shifted to the Government Mental Hospital for psychiatric evaluation after his behaviour raised concerns.The incident took place on Tuesday night outside the high-security Air Force installation. According to investigators, the accused allegedly filled beer bottles with petrol and attempted to throw them near the station’s main gate. Alert Air Force security personnel overpowered and detained him before he could carry out the act.During questioning, police said the accused gave contradictory statements. He allegedly claimed that the Indian Air Force had “hacked” his brain and was remotely controlling his thoughts, compelling him to travel from Andhra Pradesh to Gwalior. At other times, he spoke about alleged caste-based harassment, prompting investigators to seek a psychiatric evaluation.Senior Superintendent of Police Dharamveer Yadav said he was produced before the CJM court and later shifted to the Government Mental Hospital.“He was shifted to the Mental Hospital. He claims that his brain has been hacked by the Indian Air Force and they are controlling him. According to him, this is why he boarded a train from Andhra Pradesh and reached Gwalior. We contacted his relatives, who are associated with the Uttar Pradesh Police. They informed us that he has been undergoing neurological treatment for the past five to six years and that the family had lost contact with him. He is highly qualified and is said to be a MANIT graduate. He was last working as an Assistant Professor at a college in Andhra Pradesh. We are verifying all these facts,” SSP Yadav said.Police said preliminary verification indicates that the accused completed an MCA from Noida and an MTech from Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT), Bhopal. He had also enrolled in a PhD programme but did not complete it before joining a private college in Andhra Pradesh as an Assistant Professor.Investigators are verifying his educational qualifications, employment history and medical records. They are also reconstructing his movements before reaching Gwalior, including his stay at a local guest house and the circumstances in which he allegedly procured petrol and prepared the bottles.Police said the accused’s relatives informed investigators that he had been undergoing neurological treatment for the past five to six years. Authorities said they are awaiting the findings of the psychiatric evaluation while continuing the investigation.
