CHENNAI: TVK chief Vijay gave an MLA ticket to his personal car driver’s son and now he’s won in Virugambakkam.Sabarinathan R secured victory after all 24 rounds of EVM counting. He polled 76,092 votes, winning by a margin of 27,086 votes over his nearest rival. Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) candidate Prabhakara Raja AMV finished second with 49,006 votes, while All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) nominee Virugai VN Ravi came in third with 38,767 votes.
The development has added a human-interest angle to an already high-stakes political contest involving TVK whose party has emerged as the single largest party in its first assembly election.
